The music in the 2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge Plugin Hybrid advert is a cover version of the 60s classic rock song “Born TO Be Wild” by Canadian rock band Steppenwolf. In the version in the advert, we hear the familiar lyrics:
“Get your motor runnin’
Head out on the highway,
Lookin’ for adventure,
And whatever comes our way
Born to be wild.”
Followed by “We were born to be wild”. This version is performed by American singer-songwriter Natalie Taylor who recorded the song this year for the Volvo advert. This beautiful cover version can be listened to in full from the YouTube video below
