Vauxhall – The New Astra Light

Vauxhall have released this new advert for the all-new Astra Light in 2019. The commercial seems like a parody of the famous “Diet Coke Break” ads back in the day which used the same Etta James music track.

In this advert we see some co-workers telling each other that it’s break time. The rush to look out the window to see a red Vauxhall Astra pass by causing spray while being driven through a puddle. The ad concludes by one colleague saying to the other “same time tomorrow?”

The music in the advert

Music: I Just Want to Make Love to You | Artist : Etta James

The music in the Vauxhall Astra Light 2019 advert is the 1961 rerecording of “I Just Want To Make Love To You” by Etta James. The song was originally a 1954 blues song written by Willie Dixon, first recorded by Muddy Waters, and released as “Just Make Love to Me”.

Etta James’ version famously featured in the Diet Coke adverts that featured women watching ‘hunky’ men during their lunch break. The track was recorded for Etta James’ debut album At Last!
