Finally here is the new John Lewis Christmas 2022 advert which is titled ‘The Beginner’. The heart-warming ad focuses on the retailer’s commitment to support the young people’s care.
In the commercial we follow a man who is determined to get to grips with skateboarding. He struggles to master the art having tried on the street and at the local skate park. Meanwhile at home, he helps his wife prepare the Christmas tree. They both appear to be apprehensively looking forward to Christmas
Later in the advert we realise why. There is a knock at the door. When the couple answer, they see a little girl and her care worker. The girl is holding a skateboard. The advert goes on to tell viewers that over 108,000 children in the UK are in the care system. John Lewis & Partners are making a long term commitment to support the futures of young people from care.
John Lewis & Partners are in partnership with Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland. The retailer has scholarship initiatives and apprenticeships to help young people from care find careers with John Lewis. They are also helping young people from care get into education and work after they reach the age of 18.
