This new Emirates Airline advert titled ‘I Want To Fly the World’ features a catchy song with some reflective lyrics. The animated ad looks back over the challenging times we have all had during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some of the lyrics have a comedic vibe to them such as “so I’ve been working from home, no fun to be had, I just get to be sad, cause I miss my grandad, he’s alright though, he’s had the vaccine, but he said I’m drinking too much caffeine, know what I mean?”
Later in the commercial we see flight attendants performing some light-hearted dancing. The ad even mentions traveling to Antarctica in this video! The commercial appears purposefully cheap, however Emirates knew what they were doing…
In contrast, Emirates have also released a much more traditional 30-second ad titled “We’re on top of the world” featuring the same song.
The ad starts with a flight attendant with some messages on boards saying “Moving the UAE to the UK amber list has made us feel on top of the world, fly Emirates, fly better”.
This is no standard advert however, incredibly, she is standing on top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (tallest building in the world). We then see an amazing shot panning out to show the brave flight attendant in front of the awesome Dubai skyline, 828 meters up!
How was the Emirates Airlines advert filmed in Dubai ?
The UAE-based airline claims this to be the ‘highest ad ever filmed’ as incredibly there is no CGI involved in this shot. Here’s an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the making of the advert
